HISTORY OF
MOTHER'S BELSSING
A Mother’s Blessing is a sacred, supportive gathering designed to honor a pregnant woman as she prepares for the transformative journey into motherhood. Rooted in the spirit of women-centered traditions, this ceremony offers a heartfelt alternative to the typical baby shower, focusing not on gifts for the baby, but on emotional, spiritual, and communal support for the mother-to-be.
While inspired by the traditional Navajo Blessingway, this modern interpretation is held with deep respect and does not attempt to replicate the sacred rites of that culture. Instead, it draws on the ancient practice of women gathering to nurture, empower, and uplift one another during times of transition.
During the event, you can expect meaningful rituals, affirmations, and connection, all within a safe, intentional space. It’s a chance to reflect, receive, and build a network of support that extends beyond the ceremony and into your birth and postpartum journey.
A Mother’s Blessing is more than a celebration, it’s a rite of passage, a moment of pause, and a reminder that you are not alone on this path to motherhood.
IMAGINE....
…you were celebrated for the transformation you’re going through, not just the baby you’re growing.
…you walked into a space where the energy was calm, grounding, and designed just for you.
…instead of answering questions about due dates and diapers, you were asked how you’re really doing.
…you felt emotionally and spiritually supported.
…you had a circle of support to remind you of your strength, your wisdom, and your power.
…you were given space to honor your fears, celebrate your joys, and set intentions for birth.
…you left the event feeling full, grounded, and deeply connected to your baby, and yourself.
…you realized this wasn’t just preparation for birth, but a sacred pause to honor the woman you are becoming.

MEET YOUR CO-HOSTS

MEET CAROL ANN
CAROL ANN
Carol Ann is a therapist, maternal mental health advocate, and mom of two who deeply believes that the person growing the baby deserves just as much love and care as the baby, if not more.
Her passion for this work is rooted in personal experience. During and after her first pregnancy, Carol Ann struggled profoundly with her mental health. While everyone’s focus was on the baby, as society often encourages, she felt herself disappearing. Her sense of identity faded, her independence felt lost, and she grappled with who she was outside of being “the one growing the miracle.”
After lost of her own therapy and healing, this experience led her to dive headfirst into the world of maternal mental health. Through both personal healing and professional growth, Carol Ann became dedicated to changing the narrative, one that prioritizes both the mother and baby, recognizing that caring for one never has to mean neglecting the other.
JESS
Jess is a proud mama of three and, when she’s not chasing after tiny humans, she’s a dedicated therapist supporting a beautifully diverse community.
Her first experience with a Mother’s Blessing was as a guest, attending a ceremony held for a dear friend. Deeply moved by the emotion, connection, and intention behind it, Jess knew immediately that she wanted to welcome her third child into the world with that same love and reverence. Before her baby shower, she chose to hold her own Mother’s Blessing, fully embracing the tradition and its beautiful rituals.
For Jess, being grounded, in tune with herself, and emotionally supported has always been a central part of her motherhood journey. She’s endlessly grateful for the village that has helped raise her children, and saw the Mother’s Blessing as the perfect way to intimately honor and gather with those who’ve walked alongside her.

WHY WE ARE HOSTING THIS:
Jess recently welcomed her third beautiful, healthy baby into the world. But before her birth journey unfolded, she experienced something truly special—a Mother’s Blessing. Carol Ann had the honor of attending, and it was everything our culture so often overlooks: emotional, sacred, empowering, and centered entirely on honoring the mother.
The experience left a lasting impact. It was a powerful reminder of how deeply women need to be seen, supported, and celebrated—not just the baby, but the person bringing that baby into the world.
Moved by what she witnessed, Carol Ann approached Jess with an idea:
What if they brought this experience to more women?
What if they created a group Mother’s Blessing—a shared space where more birthing moms could feel valued, connected, and held?
And so, this offering was born.

Nourishment & Connection
A warm, peaceful gathering to honor a mother-to-be, set in a cozy, candlelit space with soft music and comfortable seating. Guests are invited to unplug, relax, and join in a heartfelt celebration of love, support, and connection as the mother prepares for her journey into motherhood.
A candle-lighting ritual to honor the lineage of mothers. Each guest lights a tea light from a central flame, introduces themselves as a daughter and granddaughter, and reflects on their connection to motherhood. This ceremony honors the mother energy within all of us, regardless of life stage or personal experience.
Participants write heartfelt notes of encouragement or empowering mantras. These messages are collected in a keepsake box or journal for the mother to read during labor and postpartum, offering love and support through her journey.
Moms have a chance to write down any fears or worries they are carrying as they prepare for birth and motherhood. Then, through a simple release ritual, we’ll let them go together—symbolizing a fresh start and a lighter heart.
The Red Thread Ritual is a powerful tradition that honors the lineage of women, those who came before us and those who will follow. A red thread is passed around the circle, each woman wrapping it around her wrist before passing it on. Once everyone is connected, the thread is cut and tied into individual bracelets, symbolizing a shared bond of love, support, and strength.
Worn until the baby is born, the thread serves as a reminder to hold the mother in thought and spirit throughout her journey.
While so much attention is placed on preparing for birth, what comes after is just as important. During this gathering, we’ll spend intentional time exploring how to create a realistic, compassionate postpartum plan, one that centers Mom's well-being, boundaries, and mental health.
Guests will be guided through gentle reflection and practical tools to help you prepare emotionally, build your support system, and reduce overwhelm during those early weeks.
We’ll end our time together with a heartfelt closing ritual to seal in the love, strength, and connection shared. Through our symbolic gesture, the red thread ceremony, participants leave with a tangible reminder that they are supported, seen, and never alone on this journey into motherhood.
After the ceremony, guests share light food and time together. This is a chance to nourish the body, continue meaningful conversations, and connect with other women on a similar journey.

FAQ
1. What’s the difference between a Mother’s Blessing and a baby shower?
A baby shower celebrates the baby—with gifts, games, and a focus on what the baby needs.
A Mother’s Blessing is about you—the mother. It’s a sacred, intentional gathering that honors your emotional and spiritual journey into motherhood. There are no registries, no onesies—just space to be supported, seen, and celebrated as you prepare for this life transition.
3. Do I need to bring anything?
Nope—just yourself, your open heart, and maybe a journal if that feels good to you. Everything else will be provided, including all materials for rituals, keepsakes, and light refreshments. You’ll leave with full hands and a fuller heart.
2. I’m not super spiritual, can I still come?
Absolutely. While the event is soulful and ceremonial, it’s not religious and there’s no need to identify as spiritual. All that’s required is a willingness to receive support, slow down, and connect with yourself and other women walking a similar path. You’ll be met exactly where you are.
4. I don’t know anyone else attending, will I feel out of place?
Not at all. This circle is designed to be warm, welcoming, and inclusive—no prior connections needed. In fact, many women come alone and leave feeling deeply connected. The shared experience of pregnancy creates instant common ground, and we gently guide everyone into that connection with care and intention.
